Wetland Restoration Initiatives – Associated Regions
The DaWetRest project is proud to announce the selection of the first four associated regions for its critical wetland restoration initiatives. These regions will serve as leading examples of ecological recovery through sustainable practices and community engagement.
The selected regions are:
- BARDAČA: Building Actions to Restore and Defend the Aquatic Critically devastated Area.
Srbac, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Basin: Danube-Black Sea - Tolisa River Floodplain Restoration and Biodiversity Conservation Initiative.
Municipality of Modriča, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Basin: Danube-Black Sea - Zeta Floodplain Restoration through Community-engaged and Sustainable Innovative Actions (ZetRest).
Municipality of Danilovgrad, Montenegro
Basin: Mediterranean Sea - Best Practices for Restoring Coastal “Blue Carbon” Habitats in Andalusia, Spain.
Andalusia, Spain
Basin: Atlantic-Arctic
The selection of these regions marks a significant milestone in the DaWetRest project, as it showcases the commitment to restoring vital ecosystems in Europe through collaborative actions and innovative approaches. Each region presents unique ecological challenges and opportunities for restoration, setting the stage for impactful change that will benefit both the environment and local communities.
While these four regions have been chosen to kick off this important part in the DaWetRest it will be announced additional associated regions in due time, expanding the project’s reach and influence across Europe.
